Tjåsa Gusfors - makes sculptures and designs of snow and ice.
Since the year 2000 she has worked through the winter seasons as
a commissioned artist at the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, northern Sweden.
At that location she has designed and built a number of things, such as artist’s suites, a luxury suite and an Ice Church, the sculptures in the
main hall.
She is also hired as an artist coach to guide and coordinate the work for
the new artists who are invited each season to participate in the design work at the Icehotel.
Apart from her works of ice at the Ice Hotel, she also pursues design projects and sculptural works on her own and in collaboration with other
ice artists and venues. This includes live sculpturing at various events.
In the course of a day, 1500 kilograms of ice from the Torne river is transformed into a sculpture by means of a chainsaw and ice chisels.
In Kautokeino northern Norway Tjåsa designed and supervised the construction of the world’s largest Ice Cinema, it also contained a snowmobile drive-in. Also visit www.iceevent.se |
